Drawing The Future Project Launch

Drawing The Future Project Launch

The ‘Drawing the Future’ study highlights a big gap between kids’ career dreams and real job opportunities in Northern Ireland. Gender stereotypes still shape choices, and most kids don’t get exposure to diverse careers.

As a female Concept Artist in film and TV, I know how important it is for young people to see creative careers as real options. I’m grateful to share my journey and encourage other professionals to do the same - just one conversation can open a world of possibilities! I am delighted to be a special guest alongside a professional footballer, astrophysicist and millionaire businesswoman - all representing how the children of NI can be anything they want to be.

  • Education and Employers Report Launch

  • Ballysally Primary School

  • 29th January 2025

Channel 4: 4Schools

Emily Doherty:

💫 #4Schools have been to Northern Ireland! 💫

Last week I has the pleasure of hosting a Channel 4 Schools Q&A session with local TV and Film industry professionals for the students at Ashfield Boys' High School in Belfast.

I'd like to say an huge thank you to panellists who volunteered their time to join me at the school, along with Jenny Savory for being a coordination legend as always and making the event possible! 🤗

🎨 Maria Mallon's inspiring stories from her work as a concept artist really helped bring the industry to life for the students and Hannah Murray gave her best tips and tricks about building a network in the industry and going for a career you are passionate about! Thank you for speaking so openly about your experiences! 📺

📽 It was fantastic to be joined by David McConnell from Northern Ireland Screen and Sean Boyle from Into Film who gave the students invaluable information about the range of training opportunities and routes into the industry available in Belfast.

Students and staff at the school have since commented on how much they learnt about the industry, and how to access it! 🤩

Thank you all again for supporting 4Schools to help inspire and empower school communities to see the creative industries as a vibrant and viable career option!
